Max Chilton has been supplanted at Marussia by store driver Alexander Rossi during the current weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
The group refered to unspecified "contractual issues" for the choice.
Anyway the 23-year-old Briton's administration said he had intentionally stepped aside to permit the group to "pull in highly required supports by offering his seat".
Chilton's announcement said he would "go to the race and be close by to help the group in any capacity conceivable".
